This weekend was very productive for NABJ members. On Friday, members of our executive board Dawn Chevalier, Sasha Gordon, Whitney Hoard, and Olivia Sylvain made a special visit to Ryan High School in Denton. There, the members spoke to a introductory journalism class about the ins and outs of the journalism field, getting into college, scholarships, and how to stay ahead academically.
It was an amazing privilege to reach these young minds and get them thinking about college. Mayborn is a great place to cultivate talent (their teacher Ryan Feuerhelm is a Mayborn alumnus!) and NABJ encouraged the students to start thinking about the opportunities available at UNT and other universities.
On Saturday, NABJ held a fundraising car wash at Auto Zone on University Dr. in Denton. Members from the community, UNT, and within the organization were very supportive of our efforts. We are very proud to say that we exceeded our fundraising goals and we cannot wait to provide more services and programs for our members! The executive board would like to thank all the new members who helped out at the car wash–we truly appreciate your contribution!
Join NABJ as we host a blood drive on Wednesday, October 1 at the Methodist student center located at 1501 Maple Street Denton, TX 76201 (between Kerr Hall and Maple Hall). We will be there from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Come support your favorite collegiate chapter of NABJ and the Denton community!
